hi beauties. I love you guys so much.

today I have a really important chat for y’all. it’s not only timely for Palm Sunday, but it’s a valuable & precious mantra for a lifetime. yeah. it’s that piercing.

when Jesus entered the city, the people waved palm branches & blessed Him, and later on they received Jesus Himself on the cross. today we open our palms to bless Him still & receive His goodness and blessing.

there’s a term we use in yoga: “palms up to receive.”

as we sit in meditation, or pause, steady in our breath, in a pose full of difficulty, we often remind ourselves or our students to simply turn our hands so our palms face up- a posture of surrender, openness, and release.

it’s a softness, a gentleness, a simplicity in the midst of spiritual tension. it’s an offering in the midst of emotional scarcity. it’s a song of sweetness in the screaming bitter season of the soul.

this is our Palm Sunday everyday.

this is our silent shout of hosanna, defiant in the chaos of a world shrieking with fear & demanding our worry and panic. Continue reading “PALMS OPEN”

what is “setting your intention” in yoga, why it’s important, and how to do it

in a yoga class or in your pinterest-scrolling, you may have come across this common little phrase “set your intention”.

yoga teachers often bring this to attention at the beginning of the class, and ask you to refer back to it throughout the duration of the session.

but what exactly does it mean to “set your intention”, and why is it important? is it even important? how do you do it, anyway?

well aren’t you lucky, because that’s exactly what I’m talking about today 🙂

setting your intention in yoga

setting your intention is basically stating “this is what I need right now.” in your yoga practice or your life. Continue reading “what is “setting your intention” in yoga, why it’s important, and how to do it”

monday pep talk // meeting Him on the mat

monday pep talk // meeting Him on the mat

hi sweet friends 🙂

I have something very special and beautiful to speak with you about today!
if you’re like me and have made a holy commitment to following Jesus, you’re gonna be pretty psyched about today’s post 🙂

if you follow Jesus, you should be meeting with Him every day.
that’s a simple truth that rings true no matter who you are or where you’re at in your Jesus journey.
and if this is something that’s a habit for you (it 100% needs to be!!), then you know how your time in His presence will completely transform and uplift your day like nothing else in the world can. ❤

there are lots of ways to do this, and I know several incredible fellow followers whose times of quiet with Jesus look totally different.
I think that is so amazing!! 🙂
it blows my mind and makes my heart happy to know that we were each created to interact with our Creator in a way that is unique to our soul and His heart.
no one else’s time with Jesus is going to be quite like yours.
there is no “one right way” to do it! 😀

today though, I’m showing you how I meet Him daily.
I meet Him on my mat.
The best part of my day is when I get to read Scripture and then meditate on and pray to the glorious God who guides my steps while worshiping Him with my body on my yoga mat.

monday pep talk

I haven’t spoken too much about my yoga practice on this blog, but that’s beginning to change.
mostly because the way I practice yoga has changed.
in addition to simply using it to better my body (which is an awesome use of this workout!), I’ve begun to use it as a way to meet with Jesus. Continue reading “monday pep talk // meeting Him on the mat”
