I so love engaging with you here on this format & getting to hear from you all about your beautiful, brutal stories.
today I wanted to chat a bit about growth. maturity. and that ever-elusive feeling of having “arrived” at some mysterious destination.
actually, if I’m honest… I don’t think maturity & growth are destinations at all, but rather a habitual way of life.
because I don’t think we ever “arrive” this side of the stars, babes. and that doesn’t have to be discouraging. on the contrary, I find it so very reassuring to know that I’m not the only one who hasn’t “arrived” at this mystical land of pristine emotional perfection. (can y’all holla with me?)
but because it’s not a destination, growth requires something of me in my current space. it requires change, and this kind of real and honest growth, this every deliberate step into maturity, requires that change in each and every present moment.
I think that a sure sign of maturity & growth is the discomfort of consistently and willingly entering into unknown and tension-filled spaces in ourselves.

Hey friends! I’m back with the second installment of the much-awaited mini-series on how to create your own vision board! If you missed the first post, just go here and give it a read before you continue on with this post. (trust me, it’s worth it!)
as for the rest of you- if you’ve finished all of the questionnaire, you’re READY to get started working on the actual, physical part of your vision board. are you excited? did you learn a TON about yourself from that awesome questionnaire? do you have a clearer idea of what your vision is and how it should play out?
okay, here we go.
go grab that PSL (because it’s out now, y’all… although personally I’m still waiting on my salted caramel mocha to come back!!) and like a dozen new rolls of washi tape (because I know you’re just as obsessed with the stuff as I am), and get ready to rock your world and embellish your wall a bit. 🙂
there are virtually limitless ideas and ways to create your board, but I used probably the simplest method in the book.
here’s what I used to create my board:
white paper (the nice cardstock kind)
TONS of washi tape
my notebook containing all my answers from the questionnaire
pens/markers of varying sizes and durability
my phone (for inspiration!)
any photos or quotes from places like pinterest
ALL THE WASHI TAPE. Continue reading “CREATING A VISION BOARD // PART 2”
y’all are pretty familiar with my face on here 😉
you have also probably witnessed (some) of my great hair adventure…
I’ve had a long history of chopping off my hair, growing it out again, only to chop it off into a quirky, short ‘do once more. I did that again yesterday, which you’ll see towards the end of the post!
I figured I’d compile it all together for you here, in case you care at all 😉 but perhaps it will inspire you to try a new ‘do this autumn!! Continue reading “chop chop! // my new ‘do for autumn & my long-time hair adventure”
summer is coming to an end! it’s been a long one, guys. lots of good, lots of bad… just… lots… this summer has been full.
remember a way long time ago when I talked to you about my summer bucket list? 🙂 yeah, well, the summer is nearly over, and I think it’s about time I gave you one final update on that little list!
- beach yoga: CHECK
this was way fun. I told you all about it here!! 🙂
- shoot a video: CHECK
it’s actually one I created for my church, with people from my church (including the beautiful and multi-talented Simone of the adventures of everygirl), on the topic of authenticity and bearing one another’s burdens. watch it on youtube here. it’s not what I’d originally envisioned, but I think it does the job, and if it speaks to anyone and moves them to action, I’ve accomplished what I set out to do. ❤
- write a bible study guide: NOPE
this didn’t pan out quite as I’d hoped. ah, well…
- ride a ferris wheel with J and kiss at the top: CHECK
yay!! this was WAY FUN.
- finish the book I started, The Way of Kings by brandon sanderson: PROGRESS
I haven’t finished, but I haven’t stayed at the same place, either. I call that progress, and I think that’s a good thing 🙂
I didn’t complete everything on my list, but I did complete most of it. and I think that the ones I completed are the ones that mattered most at this time in my life. I completed the ones I needed right now, and I grew because of them. and I think that’s really, really awesome.
how was your summer?
did you knock off everything on your bucket list?
happy end of summer, and hip hip hooray for the approaching autumn! ❤
they say the first year of marriage is the hardest.
it was always implied to me, that it’s hard because you’re trying to figure out how to be married.
or that you’re not really getting along because you’re not used to marriage yet.
I’ve heard stories of screaming and crying and spouses being exiled to the couch.
that wasn’t true for us.
while things weren’t always perfect, for the most part, marriage fit us like a glove.
it was all the other stuff that has made our first year of marriage a bit of a hellish year.
stuff like: Continue reading “#lovetheinbetween // when the money runs out”
Hey you! 🙂
I’ve got some exciting news!
As you may know, I’ve had to abandon my menu plan monday posts since fleeing the creatures in our apartment in April.
whew. ugh. blurg. yuck.
I loved posting weekly in that series, and when I no longer had a reason to, I felt that this blog got a little lost. before all of that happened, I also had plans in the works for more weekly series, and an outlined blogging schedule.
well, sweet friends, it is finally completed!
*fireworks, happy dance, and hallelujah chorus*
I will be posting at least four times a week, in four different weekly blogging series!!
I’m super excited!
(and yes, that is little moriah 😉 ) Continue reading “schedules // in which things get reorganized ’round here”
hello, dear ones 🙂
it’s been a while (sorry.) this time of year (while definitely the most wonderful!!) is also the busiest. phew.
like, phew. what. even.
here are just a few of the bits and pieces I’ll share.
1. coffee shops are splendid. I love them. especially square one in downtown, where I’m writing from currently. ahhh, so nice.
2. can’t wait for Christmas! LESS THAN A WEEK PEOPLE. HOW DOES EVERY ONE ELSE CONTAIN THEMSELVES? I’ve been waking up bouncing with the thrill of the season for the past week and a half, much to the dismay of my dear husband. (sorry babe!)
3. can people just calm the junk down about the Merry Christmas debate? please? it bothers me so much to see people who claim to love Jesus hating on the world for being, uh, the world… (like, what exactly do you expect?) this is not a battle worth fighting, people. no one is going to want to love Jesus when they see all his “followers” hating everybody and freaking out about words. chill. please. PUH-LEASE. Continue reading “thoughts, plans, excitement // my crazy, wild winter”
been wanting to do this post for a while now. I always love seeing what other bloggers tote around with them 24/7, so I figured I’d show you all what I bring with me always. 🙂
during winter, I almost always have an extra pair of gloves in my bag, too, but it’s not quite that chilly here, yet, so I didn’t include those in here!
first off, for the bag.
I. am. obsessed. with my seventeen-dollar-target-clearance-purse.
ahhhh. it’s my favorite thing.
I love target, okay? I don’t care that it’s not some fancy-shmancy brand- I’m perfectly content with my trusty target brand everything, that I can count on to cost a fraction of the price of pretty much anywhere else. (no, really, I’m not being paid to say this. I swear.)
am I right??
the pockets on the outside are perfect for items I need to grab asap or more often than others, while the inside pocket is just right for, um, lady-items. 😉 also love that the top has the option of zipping up- instead of just a little flimsy magnet clasp, aaaaand the two strap options- long for wearing cross-body, or short for slinging into the crook of my elbow (pretty much my go-to) or hefting up to my shoulder. girl’s gotta have her options!
and as much as I love the bag, it really is only a carrier for all the important things- and the thing I love about a nice big bag, is that it can actually carry all the important things. and I tote around a lot of things.
here’s what’s in my purse
1. shell trinket “box” with hair ties & bobby pins inside
2. iPhone 6, baby ❤
3. the trusty journal
4. playing cards
5. organic chocolate (from my awesome cousin- perfect for that one week a month 😉 )
6. mini journal for poignant verses & phrases I want to memorize & remember
7. mini altoids
8. three black pens and a sharpie
9. wallet (with wallet things inside)
10. glasses case
11. current book- mere christianity by Lewis
12. big paperclip
13. fuzzy socks
14. snack- organic fruit leather
16. lip gloss
22. birth control
23. hand lotion
24. vaseline with cocoa butter – magical stuff ❤
25. hand sanitizer
26. collapsible toothbrush
what’s in your purse? 🙂
what are some necessities you’ve just gotta have always?
til next time!
