every event is interactive and gentle. I always start by sharing my own story & experiences, before looking deep into the issues that plague us all. these are difficult topics of great importance, so come with the knowledge that there may be triggering moments, though I attempt to minimize them as much as possible. there are always opportunities & specific times set aside during the event for reflection and hands-on processing in a variety of ways.

we work through the painful entanglements of false purity culture, abuse, victim blaming, and the modesty trap.

get in touch with yourself & with Divine Love- mind, body, and soul -by using your body to mirror the posture of your heart. learn how Jesus used yoga to do lots of healing in me, from the inside-out!

FOR THE LOVE // A VALENTINES COUNTDOWN THAT DOESN’T CARE ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP STATUS

I know it isn’t quite february yet, but here’s your personal preparation 😉

self care goodness, intentional acts of kindness, valuing what’s really important, and eating discount chocolate… that’s what should really be happening on valentine’s, am I right?!

even as a married gal, I tend to get valentine’s overwhelm by the amount of romance I’m supposedly supposed to be generating for myself and my man. let’s keep it sweet & simple this year, with an epic countdown that doesn’t care if you’re married, blissfully engaged, new to a relationship, or cuddling with your ten kittens. 😀

so, for the love of all that’s sane & lovely… let’s rock this v-day with tons of generosity, kindness, and actions that make the world a better place.

DAY 1 : buy coffee for the person behind you at starbucks.

DAY 2: treat yourself to some simple self-care (like painting your nails or taking a bubble bath).

DAY 3: don’t say anything negative on social media- only be encouraging.

DAY 4: take a friend out to lunch.

DAY 5: send your mom, sister, friend, or spouse a bouquet of flowers.

DAY 6: go out for your favorite dinner, and give the waitress or waiter a really awesome tip.

DAY 7: write small, encouraging or kind words on strips of pink & red paper, and leave them in public places for strangers to find ❤

DAY 8: make a mini poster of all your favorite verses & quotes about love on a piece of computer or construction paper.

DAY 9: buy your favorite valentine’s candy and share with a friend or SO… or keep it to yourself 😉

DAY 10: watch a cheesy chick flick & play this themed bingo game. add wine and cheese because yum.

DAY 11: meditate on the so not passive nature of Jesus-love. then go share the love!

DAY 12: throw a Galentine’s Day party for all your girls.

DAY 13: mail a hand-written letter to a friend or loved one.

DAY 14: treat yourself to your favorite coffee, wear your favorite outfit, and make a point to love each and every person you come into contact with today… including yourself. ❤

aka: no stress, all becoming. sounds just about divine, right?!

so, to celebrate my cutting of ties to the chaos that binds us this time of year, I’ve decided to host a really awesome mini online course for you all to kick off your 2017 in freedom and wholeness!

it’s called “ABC’s of the full & beautiful life”, and it’s a 26-day journey (starting January 2nd!), each day introducing a new word, designed to help inspire a more whole YOU, which corresponds to the next letter in the alphabet.

I DON’T DO RESOLUTIONS // MY #ONEWORD365 FOR 2017

this is a post that I’ve been really excited to share for quite some time now… even though I wasn’t entirely sure what it would look like 🙂

while it’s never been a public thing for me, and not something I chose to share on the blog, I’ve practiced this idea of having a single word to guide and represent my year for the past couple of years.

I love #oneword365 and the way that they really rally around and create tribe in a beautiful, holistic way for those trying to live their words! so, if this is something you find yourself really connecting to by the end of this post, definitely click here and go give ’em a visit. here’s the idea: instead of creating a list of things to do, or to not do, in the new year (which are pretty much either abandoned or causing you to pull your hair out by the time march rolls around), you just find one, solitary word that resonates with your soul, and you choose that as your battle-cry and banner for the coming year. or, more accurately, it chooses you; or that’s what it feels like. more often than not, the word you’ve been running from is the word you need. (don’tcha hate that?)

I’ve been searching for my word for almost three months. and even though I’ve pretty much known it since the beginning, it took me until the end of the creative retreat I did at the beginning of this week (more on that later!) to fully embrace it and own it.

WHEN CHRISTMAS EVE LOOKS LIKE MOZARELLA STICKS & THE WALGREENS PARKING LOT

some christmases are perfect.

they’re perfectly sprinkled with tinsel and giggles, your present-wrapping game looks like something out of a magazine, everyone somehow gets along, your dinner turns out better than you expected, the house magically stays clean…

some christmases… aren’t.

sometimes Christmas eve looks like your pregnant self having contractions and pain all day, a half-dead tree because you cut it down before thanksgiving, pajamas you forgot to put in the wash, a present or two still unwrapped, and meat for your favorite traditional Christmas eve dinner left out of the fridge leaving you to scavenge at Walgreens because it’s the only place still open at 8pm.

sometimes Christmas eve dinner is mozarella sticks and doritos instead of beef stew.

sometimes it’s giggling on the sofa in sweatpants because your husband’s adrenaline is still so high from putting on the Christmas eve service.

sometimes it’s all the things you didn’t see coming.

if that’s you, you’re in good company.
WE are in good company.

because Jesus was everything we didn’t see coming.

God with us.

God for us.

not forgotten.

not unseen.

not unloved.

the dare to hope.

the un-hoped-for goodness.

so often all the good things are all the things we never saw coming.
all the things wrapped in messiness.
all the things we have to travel through wondering in order to receive.

embrace the messy, okay? ❤

5 HEALTHY WAYS TO COPE WITH HOLIDAY STRESS

I love Christmas (big surprise, huh?).
I love this time of year.

I love the first snow, the giant scarves, the holiday drinks from Starbucks, the music spattered with the sound of jingling bells, and the homey crackling of a good fire.
I love finding the perfect gift, decking out my home, spending lots of quality time with my husband, and embracing all my favorite traditions.

but, this holiday season is also crazy-insane-super-intensely-stressful. am I right?!

between the awful colds & coughs getting passed around, trying to coordinate holiday plans with family, trying to stay within budget for all those gifts, fighting through the crazy traffic, dealing with the less-than-friendly/understanding family and friends you haven’t seen since last year’s chaos-fest, and who-knows-what-else, it can get to be a little much.

and in my experience, the dashing of dreams always happens when the real life thing doesn’t quite match up to the dazzling picture I had in my head.

if you’re anything like me, you and I gotta find a way to cope.
