nibbles + scribbles // an autumn bucket list

it’s that time… 🙂

I’ve been tugging on cardigans over my tee-shirts and switching to pants instead of shorts… and today as I meandered past safeway into target (oops!) I saw that magical sign outside of the starbucks kiosk bearing those beautiful, beautiful words… “it’s pumpkin spice season again!“. I’m pretty sure that the thrill in my heart upon hearing those words will never dull. ❤

also, I bought candy corn. so that was pretty great, too.

this post is about the beautiful thing we like to call a bucket list.
maybe you remember my post about my summer version and how that turned out?
I’m making one for autumn! 😀

with autumn being my favorite season, dreaming of all the splendid things it will bring for me is easily one of the things that gets me most excited 🙂

this autumn is also very up in the air. I don’t even know where we’ll be living a month from now! we could still be in maryland… or we could be halfway across the country. with J’s job applications floating around various churches and being under consideration, we could at any time hear “we’re hiring you!” or “nope, you’re not the guy for us.” (but who could possibly say that about my man?! 😉 )

so this bucket list is full of hopes and dreams and wild possibilities.
we shall see where it takes us 🙂

autumn bucket list

here we go!!

  1. visit the pumpkin patch
J and I did this shortly after we started dating, and it was SO MUCH FUN. (and just look at what cute kids we were?!) 😉

  2. have a cozy outdoor picnic
with all the essentials!! thermoses of coffee and cider, apples, pumpkin pie, cozy blankets, the whole sha-bang 🙂 I’ve always wanted to do this… this will be the year!!

  3. worship around a bonfire.
just a bunch of friends, a guitar or two, and voices lifted in praise. can’t wait to put this together and be a part of it.
  4. go apple picking
this is something J has never done!! I used to do this with my family as a kid, and I have some very fond memories of climbing apple trees, reaching up into the branches to grasp a crisp apple, and pull it into my basket. I think this is something J would really enjoy, and it would make such an awesome date day!!

  5. take a hike!
I’ve been wanting to do this for almost a year. by the time I got super interested in it, it was freezing outside, and then during the spring, our lives were so packed full of difficulty and transition that we never made it a reality. so this autumn I’m determined to do it!! any great hiking spots we should try, DC-dwellers? 🙂

  6. feed the homeless
I’m a firm believer in the fact that not everything on your bucket list should focus on you. make soup & cider and be the hands and feet of Jesus. shouldn’t that be the true heart of our “before I die” lists?

  7. jump in some leaves
DUH. 🙂 can’t get much more like autumn than this!

  8. have an autumn-themed snack/movie night
pumpkin bread, caramel apples, pumpkin ale, hand-popped popcorn, pie, homemade pumpkin spice lattes…all the good stuff!! pop in a movie like nightmare before christmas or miracle on 34th street and enjoy those goodies!

what are YOUR goals this autumn?
I think it’s going to be a great one, brimming with newness and possibility. ❤
